Hawaiʻi Public Schools & Enrollment
Hawaiʻi State Department of Education functions as a unified statewide school district, assigning neighborhood school placement by residential address. Families can locate their designated campus using the SchoolSite Locator tool. Children must reach age five by July 31 to enter kindergarten for that academic year. Enrollment
Families seeking enrollment at a regular public school outside their neighborhood zone apply through the geographic exception (GE) process. Applications are submitted to the current school, or directly to the designated home school for newcomers.
